Where Glen Abbey is
TRREB counts Glen Abbey as one of its Oakville communities, but its quarterly report doesn’t list boundary streets. A local real estate agent’s guide (not an official source) puts it between the QEW and Upper Middle Road, from Bronte Road east to Sixteen Mile Creek, and a real estate team’s guide (also not official) names Bronte Road, Sixteen Mile Creek or Dorval Drive, and Upper Middle Road as its borders. Wikipedia’s summary of the Town’s planning communities calls Third Line and Dorval Drive its main arteries.
HoodQ, a third-party data service, describes Glen Abbey as a planned community built in the 1980s and 1990s. The agent’s guide adds that most of the housing sits between Dorval Drive and a little east of Third Line, mainly detached homes from that period, with newer condo apartment buildings and some condo townhouse complexes among them.
Glen Abbey Golf Club is at 1333 Dorval Dr. The Town describes the course as a Jack Nicklaus design built by the Royal Canadian Golf Association, now Golf Canada, as the home of the Canadian Open. Wikipedia gives 1976 as the year it was established and counts 30 Canadian Opens there, starting in 1977. Before that, the same article says, the land was a private estate from 1937 and a Jesuit retreat from 1953.
The course is covered by a heritage designation by-law that Council passed under the Ontario Heritage Act. ClubLink, then the owner, had applied to replace it with a high-density residential development; Council refused, and on July 9, 2021 the Town announced that ClubLink had withdrawn its appeals to the Ontario Land Tribunal.
Homes and recent sales
Detached houses lead resale. In TRREB’s report for April to June 2026, 48 of Glen Abbey’s 72 sales were detached, alongside 12 condo apartments, 4 attached or row townhouses, 3 condo townhouses and 5 sales TRREB classes as other. Detached homes also made up 112 of the quarter’s 180 new listings.
The gap between home types is wide: condo apartments had a median of about $583K and detached houses about $1,720K. The overall median of $1,555,000 says little about any single listing, so compare a home with recent sales of the same type.
Zoning changed in 2026. On June 15, Council adopted By-law 2026-088, which updates the low-density residential zones (RL1 to RL11) south of Dundas Street under the South Oakville zoning by-law (2014-014). If a purchase depends on adding on or rebuilding, confirm the current rules with the Town before you firm up.

Schools
School assignment goes by street address, and both boards are redrawing boundaries in parts of Oakville. Before you rely on any school below, check the exact address with the HDSB’s Find Local School tool and the HCDSB’s Find Your School tool.
Several public schools have Glen Abbey addresses. Abbey Park High School (1455 Glen Abbey Gate) teaches Grades 9 to 12 and offers Advanced Placement courses and a strings program. Pilgrim Wood Public School (1551 Pilgrims Way), established in 1990, runs Kindergarten to Grade 8 in English and French Immersion and has a self-contained Gifted program. Heritage Glen Public School (1641 Heritage Way) is a K–8 dual-track school, and Abbey Lane Public School (1160 Old Abbey Ln) is K–8.
On the Catholic side, St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Secondary School is at 1550 Nottinghill Gate. Its 2026–27 boundary map covers the land between the QEW and Upper Middle Road from the Burlington boundary east to Sixteen Mile Creek, which takes in Glen Abbey. Two schools in its family also have Glen Abbey addresses: St. Matthew Catholic Elementary School (1050 Nottinghill Gate) and St. Bernadette Catholic Elementary School (1201 Heritage Way).
HDSB secondary boundaries are changing too. In May 2026, trustees approved boundaries for the new Oakville NE #1 High School, which the board anticipates will open in September 2027, and the same decision adjusts the English and French Immersion programs at Garth Webb, T. A. Blakelock and White Oaks secondary schools. It is being phased in over three-plus years.
Parks, trails and recreation
Glen Abbey Community Centre (1415 Third Line) has a 25-metre leisure pool, a twin-pad arena, a fitness centre, squash courts, a double gym, the Oakville Gymnastics Club and the Glen Abbey branch of the Oakville Public Library. Glen Abbey Park, nearby, has basketball, pickleball and tennis courts and a skateboard park.
Nottinghill Park (1150 Nottinghill Gate), one of the Town’s destination parks, has four perennial flower beds and an ornamental grass collection, plus a playground, a softball diamond and two mini soccer fields. Old Abbey Lane Park (1110 Old Abbey Ln) and Heritage Way Park (1659 Heritage Way) both have splash pads.
The Town’s Taplow Creek Trail runs through Glen Abbey from Upper Middle Road West down to the Indian Ridge Trail just west of Dorval Drive. The McCraney Creek Trail runs from Dundas Street West to the Indian Ridge Trail at the QEW, and west of Third Line the Fourteen Mile Creek Trail runs from the QEW up to Dundas Street West.
For everyday shopping, a local real estate agent’s guide (not an official source) points to Dorval Crossing, at North Service Road and Dorval Drive, and to Abbey Plaza, at Upper Middle Road and Third Line.
Getting around
Two Oakville Transit routes are named for the area, and both run between Oakville GO and Bronte GO. Route 28 Glen Abbey North stops at Monastery and Nottinghill, Glen Abbey and Third Line, Heritage and Stonecutter, and Third Line and Kings College. Route 3 runs along Third Line and Route 6 along Upper Middle Road.
Both GO stations are on the Lakeshore West line. Bronte GO (2104 Wyecroft Rd) has free parking in a main lot of 1,824 spaces and a south lot of 1,149. Oakville GO (214 Cross Ave) has free parking in a main lot, a garage and a south lot, and VIA Rail trains stop there too.
