Clarkson, Mississauga: Homes and Neighbourhood Guide
Clarkson takes its name from early settler Warren Clarkson, through the railway station on his land. Here is where it sits, what sold in TRREB’s latest quarterly report, which schools are listed in its family of schools, its museums and lakeshore parks, and how the GO train and MiWay connect it.

Where Clarkson is
Wikipedia (not an official source) places Clarkson in the south-west corner of Mississauga on Lake Ontario, bordered by the lake to the south, Oakville to the west, Erindale and Erin Mills to the north and Lorne Park to the east. TRREB reports Clarkson as one of its Mississauga communities, and its map shows Sheridan Park to the north-west, Southdown to the south and Lorne Park to the north.
Heritage Mississauga (not an official source) dates settlement in the area to 1807. The area came to be called “Merigold’s Point”, after the Merigold family, and over time, informally, “Clarkson’s Corners”, after Warren Clarkson, who had opened a general store and post office on his property. In 1850 the road beside his land was officially recognized as Clarkson Road.
Heritage Mississauga says the Great Western Railway arrived in 1855 and a station on part of Warren Clarkson’s property was named “Clarkson’s”, later shortened to Clarkson. The community never incorporated as an independent village, was recognized in its heyday as the “Strawberry Capital of Ontario” and became part of the Town of Mississauga in 1968.
Homes and recent sales
Detached houses led sales here. In TRREB’s report for April to June 2026, 36 of Clarkson’s 90 sales were detached, 20 were condo apartments, 18 were condo townhouses, 14 were semis and 2 were freehold townhouses.
Across all home types, the median price ($860,622) was below the average ($1,045,579). Detached houses averaged about $1,571K, with a median of about $1,456K, while semis averaged about $864K, condo townhouses about $710K and condo apartments about $558K. TRREB did not report prices for the 2 freehold townhouse sales, so compare a home with sales of the same type, not with the area average.
Detached homes made up 105 of the quarter’s 249 new listings and averaged 21 days on the market, against 14 days for semis, 28 for condo townhouses and 32 for condo apartments. TRREB’s sales-to-new-listings ratio was 50% for semis, 38% for condo townhouses, 34% for detached houses and 30% for condo apartments.
Wikipedia (not an official source) says Park Royal, the second subdivision built in Clarkson, was developed on 900 acres between today’s Southdown Road and Winston Churchill Boulevard, south of the QEW, designed with all its electrical cables and wires underground, and was opened on August 8, 1958.

Schools
School assignment goes by street address. Before you rely on any school below, check the exact address with the Peel District School Board’s School Finder and with the Peel Region “Which School do I Attend?” tool, which the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board links for families and which covers both boards.
The PDSB’s 2025–26 Directions guide lists these schools in its Clarkson family, among others: Clarkson Public School (888 Clarkson Road South, Kindergarten to Grade 5), Hillside Public School (1290 Kelly Road, Kindergarten to Grade 8), Green Glade Senior Public School (1550 Green Glade, Grades 6 to 8 plus Extended French in Grades 7 and 8) and Clarkson Secondary School (2524 Bromsgrove Road). Clarkson Secondary’s board profile dates the school to 1970 and lists French Immersion, ESL, elite athlete programs and a Specialist High Skills Major in Sports and Wellness.
Catholic schools listed alongside the Clarkson family include St. Helen (1325 Bodley Road) and St. Louis (1450 Lewisham Drive), each JK to Grade 8, and Iona Catholic Secondary School (2170 South Sheridan Way). Iona runs a Regional Arts Program in music, dance, drama and visual and media arts, which students apply and audition for, and lists Specialist High Skills Majors in arts and culture and in business (marketing management). St. Christopher (1195 Clarkson Road North, JK to Grade 8) is listed with the PDSB’s Lorne Park family. These are board groupings, not boundaries, so confirm any address with the tools above.
Museums and heritage houses
Wikipedia notes that Clarkson is home to both of the City’s historic museums. Bradley Museum (1620 Orr Road) sits on a two-acre site on the edge of Lake Ontario, in a maple grove. Its buildings include Bradley House, a saltbox-style farmhouse built in 1830 by Lewis and Elizabeth Bradley, which the Mississauga Heritage Foundation opened to the public in 1967, and The Anchorage, a Regency-style cottage built in the 1820s near Southdown and Lakeshore roads and moved to the site in 1978.
Bradley House is undergoing scheduled heritage restoration while the rest of the museum stays open for drop-in activities, so check the City’s page before you go.
Benares Historic House (1507 Clarkson Road North), which Wikipedia places on the border between Clarkson and Lorne Park, was built in 1857, though parts of the home and several outbuildings date back to 1837. It was designated under the Ontario Heritage Act in 1977 and was home to four generations of the Harris and Sayers families. Restored to reflect daily life in the First World War era, it opened as a museum in 1995, and the City says more than 95% of the artifacts on display are original to the Harris family and the home.
Lakeshore parks, community centre and the village
Wikipedia’s Clarkson article also points visitors to Rattray Marsh. Credit Valley Conservation says the conservation area features a shale beach and a pedestrian boardwalk overlooking a natural wetland, and its trails include the Pedestrian Waterfront Trail, part of the Trans-Canada and Great Lakes Waterfront trail networks. Cycling is not permitted through the marsh. Entry is free, and the only parking is at Jack Darling Memorial Park (1180 Lakeshore Road West); CVC says parking is not permitted on the surrounding streets.
Harding Waterfront Estate (2700 Lakeshore Road West) is a City-owned property overlooking Lake Ontario and bordered by Joshua’s Creek. The City lists it as a park open daily from dawn until 11 p.m., and the estate is operated as an event venue by Pegasus Hospitality Group. Wikipedia lists the Bell Gairdner Estate, at the same address, among Clarkson’s sites of interest.
Clarkson Community Centre (2475 Truscott Drive) has Clarkson Arena, with seating for 534, a full-size gymnasium, an outdoor children’s water play area and a five-lane pool with a diving board and a warm-water therapeutic pool. Clarkson Library is connected to it: the library first opened in 1956 at its original location and moved into the redesigned community centre in 2002. Wikipedia says the community centre and arena opened on February 28, 1971.
The local business association, the Clarkson Village BIA, covers Lakeshore Road West from east of Southdown Road to just east of Meadow Wood Road, plus neighbouring commercial properties on Clarkson Road North and South. It says it has 140-plus businesses, including restaurants, salons, retail shops and professional services.
Getting around
Clarkson GO Station (1110 Southdown Road) is on GO’s Lakeshore West line (Wikipedia). GO lists free parking in a north lot of 627 spaces, a parking garage of 1,573 spaces and a main lot of 1,274 spaces, plus reserved and carpool parking, bike racks and local connections to MiWay and Oakville Transit.
MiWay Route 23 Lakeshore runs every day along Lakeshore Road between Clarkson GO and Long Branch GO. Routes 13 Glen Erin and 45 Winston Churchill run every day between Clarkson GO and Meadowvale Town Centre, Route 29 Park Royal runs every day to South Common Centre, and Route 110 University Express runs every day to the City Centre Transit Terminal. On weekdays, Route 14 Lorne Park links Clarkson GO with Port Credit GO, and Route 14A runs westbound to Clarkson GO via Winston Churchill Boulevard at rush hour only.
Port Credit GO, at the other end of Route 14, is where the Hazel McCallion Line begins: Metrolinx is building the light rail line, with 19 stops, from Port Credit GO to Brampton Gateway Terminal. Its project page gives no opening date, so this guide doesn’t either.
By car, Wikipedia names Lakeshore Road West, Southdown Road and Royal Windsor Drive as the area’s main roads and notes that Clarkson is near the QEW interchange at Erin Mills Parkway and Southdown Road.
