Lisgar, Mississauga: Homes and Neighbourhood Guide
Lisgar’s land use plan was approved in 1984, and its first major development was around Trelawny Circle. Here is how the City maps it, what sold in TRREB’s latest quarterly report, which schools the boards list there, its parks and trails, and how the GO train and MiWay buses connect it.

Where Lisgar is
Lisgar is a residential neighbourhood in Mississauga’s north-west corner (Wikipedia, not an official source). The City’s Official Plan maps the Lisgar Neighbourhood Character Area between Ninth Line to the west, the Canadian Pacific Railway to the north, Tenth Line West to the east and Britannia Road West to the south, with Derry Road West crossing it. Wikipedia draws it wider, out to Highway 407 and Highway 401. TRREB reports Lisgar as one of its Mississauga communities, and its map shows a strip along the city’s western edge, next to Meadowvale Business Park, Meadowvale and Churchill Meadows.
The City’s 2004 community profile traces the name to a pioneer settlement that began around 1819 near Derry Road West and Winston Churchill Boulevard. First known as Switzer’s Corners, after the five Switzer families who lived there, it was officially named Lisgar in 1871 in honour of the Governor General of Canada, Sir John Young, Lord Lisgar. By then it had a log school house, an inn and a small store with a post office, and a train station was added nearby around 1880. None of the original buildings survive, and Wikipedia notes that the old crossroads is outside today’s neighbourhood, in Meadowvale.
The same profile records that Lisgar became part of Mississauga in 1974, when the new City’s westerly boundary was extended to Ninth Line, and that its land use plan was approved in 1984. The first major development was a modular plan around Trelawny Circle and Tenth Line West, where each module is six detached houses on angled lots fronting a cul-de-sac. Wikipedia adds that a strip west of Ninth Line, outside the Official Plan’s Lisgar character area, was annexed in 2010. The Bussell House there (7420 Ninth Line), a Gothic Revival home built around 1865 that the Town of Milton designated in 1996, joined Mississauga in that Halton-Peel boundary realignment (HistoricPlaces.ca).
Homes and recent sales
Detached houses led sales in the quarter. In TRREB’s report for April to June 2026, 47 of Lisgar’s 80 sales were detached, 20 were semis, 6 were condo townhouses, 4 were freehold townhouses and 3 were in TRREB’s “other” category. TRREB recorded no condo apartment sales, and detached homes made up 106 of the quarter’s 172 new listings.
Detached houses averaged about $1,195K, with a median of about $1,180K, against about $868K for semis. Across all types, homes averaged 23 days on the market and sold at an average of 99% of the list price. Freehold and condo townhouses each averaged 102% of the list price, but with 4 and 6 sales, single sales move those figures.

Planning and drainage notes
Lisgar’s section of the City’s Official Plan, in effect since March 24, 2026, deals with drainage: parts of Lisgar drained by the Sixteen Mile Creek subwatershed use a Foundation Drain Collector system meant only for weeping tile drainage, so roof leaders drain onto the lot instead. The City’s Cultural Heritage Landscape Project report lists the Trelawny Community among its Areas of Interest rather than its significant cultural heritage landscapes.
The City says it has completed a number of actions in the Lisgar District to address the potential for basement water infiltration. A pumping station at Cactus Gate Parkette on Black Walnut Trail has operated since spring 2021, and the City’s 2026 construction list separately includes a new pumping station on Osprey Boulevard. Ask the City about a specific street.
Schools
School assignment goes by street address. Before you rely on any school below, check the exact address with the Peel District School Board’s School Finder and with the Peel Region “Which School do I Attend?” tool, which the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board links for families and which covers both boards.
The City’s open data places four public schools inside the Lisgar character area, and the PDSB’s 2025–26 Directions guide lists all four in its Meadowvale family: Kindree (7370 Terragar Boulevard), Osprey Woods (6135 Lisgar Drive) and Trelawny (3420 Trelawny Circle) public schools for Kindergarten to Grade 5, and Lisgar Middle School (6755 Lisgar Drive) for Grades 6 to 8. Osprey Woods lists French Immersion from Grade 1. The family’s secondary school is Meadowvale Secondary School (6700 Edenwood Drive).
The same guide lists eight Dufferin-Peel Catholic schools alongside that family, and the City’s data places five of them inside the character area: Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Secondary School (3700 Trelawny Circle, Grades 9 to 12), and the St. Albert of Jerusalem (7185 Rosehurst Drive), St. Edith Stein (6234 Osprey Boulevard), St. Simon Stock (6440 Lisgar Drive) and St. Therese of the Child Jesus (6930 Forest Park Drive) Catholic elementary schools. These are board groupings, not boundaries, so confirm any address with the tools above.
Parks, trails and recreation
Osprey Marsh (6123 Ninth Line) is both a City park and a stormwater pond, which drains to Sixteen Mile Creek through a culvert under Ninth Line. A 2019 City cycling feature describes a loop trail around the marsh, where you may spot a blue heron, reached from the Lisgar Meadow Brook Trail or the Britannia multi-use trail. Dredging and restoring the Osprey Marsh ponds is on the City’s 2026 construction list.
Lisgar Fields (3805 Doug Leavens Boulevard) is a community park. The City’s park data lists a lit baseball diamond, two 11-a-side soccer fields, four unlit tennis courts with pickleball, a playground, a spray pad, outdoor fitness equipment, a multi-pad with three basketball hoops and a parking lot with 164 standard and 9 accessible spaces. Lisgar Green (6140 Osprey Boulevard) has four 5-a-side soccer fields, an unlit softball diamond, a playground and a spray pad.
The same data places ten more named community parks inside the character area: Avonlea Grove, Buttonbush Park, Cordingley Park, Forest Park, Johnny Bower Park, Kindree Gate, Osprey Woods, Stonewood Park, Tobias Mason Park and Trelawny Woods. Lisgar Fields, Lisgar Green, Lisgar Meadow Brook, Osprey Woods and Osprey Marsh are open daily from dawn until 11 p.m.
The City’s facility data lists no library or community centre inside the character area. Meadowvale Community Centre and Library (6655 Glen Erin Drive), which the City places just east of Meadowvale Town Centre, has a six-lane pool with a diving board, a warm-water therapeutic pool and a double gym, and its library was rebuilt in 2016.
Getting around
Lisgar GO Station (3250 Argentia Road) is at Argentia Road and Tenth Line, by the railway on the character area’s northern edge. It is on GO’s Milton line and opened on September 4, 2007 (Wikipedia). GO lists free parking in a main lot of 714 spaces, plus reserved and carpool parking and bike racks, with connections to MiWay, Brampton Transit and Milton Transit.
Three MiWay routes run every day from Meadowvale Town Centre through or beside Lisgar. Route 38 Creditview stops at Lisgar GO on its way to Cooksville GO Station. Route 39 Britannia runs through Lisgar on Derry Road West, Lisgar Drive and Osprey Boulevard, then east along Britannia Road to Renforth Station. Route 46 Tenth Line uses Trelawny Circle and Osprey Boulevard on its way to Erin Mills Station.
On the western edge, the City began construction in June 2026 to widen Ninth Line from two lanes to four between Eglinton Avenue West and Derry Road West, adding sidewalks and cycle tracks and improving storm drainage, street lighting and transit stops. Its project page lists November 2027 for completion.
