Hawthorne Village, Milton: Neighbourhood Guide
Hawthorne Village is a builder’s name, not a line on any Town or MLS® map. Here is what it refers to, TRREB’s figures for Beaty and Clarke, the two communities this guide covers, and which schools, parks and bus routes are actually there.

What the name refers to
Hawthorne Village is the name Mattamy Homes gave its subdivision in east Milton. A Milton Historical Society talk from November 2005, hosted on the Town’s website, describes its first new homes as “dramatic evidence” that Milton was in for a period of growth, and includes an aerial photo captioned “Hawthorne Village 2001”.
Servicing came first. In 1999, 15.5 km of new watermain from the Upper Middle Road Reservoir and new sewage lines to treatment facilities in Oakville opened the land up. Before that, the most recent subdivisions registered in Milton’s urban area dated from the 1970s. In 2001 alone, about 1,600 building permits were issued.
Neither the Town nor TRREB uses Hawthorne Village as a boundary. TRREB’s Milton community report has no community by that name; it reports Beaty, Clarke, Coates, Dempsey and others instead. In a 2019 planning paper, the Town described the land between Thompson Road and James Snow Parkway, on the north side of Louis St. Laurent Avenue, as the Bristol Survey: one of Milton’s first two phases of residential expansion, planned for about 40,000 residents and largely built out by then.
Two places that carry the name, Hawthorne Village Public School on Bennett Boulevard and Hawthorne Village Square plaza on Derry Road, are both south of Derry Road between Thompson Road and James Snow Parkway. A local real estate team’s neighbourhood guide (not an official source) calls that block Beaty, and calls the block north of Derry, up to the CP rail line, Clarke. This guide covers both and keeps their figures separate.
Homes and recent sales
Both blocks mix detached houses, semis and townhouses, with a handful of condominium units. In TRREB’s report for April to June 2026, detached homes made up 30 of Beaty’s 56 sales and 13 of Clarke’s 34.
Because the name has no official boundary, check the street address and the MLS® community on any listing that uses it before you compare prices.

Schools
School assignment goes by street address, and both boards have redrawn boundaries in parts of Milton recently. Before you rely on any school below, check the exact address with the HDSB’s Find Local School tool and the HCDSB’s Find Your School tool.
Hawthorne Village Public School (850 Bennett Blvd) opened in the 2005–06 school year and runs Kindergarten to Grade 8. Under the South Milton boundary plan HDSB trustees approved on January 7, 2025 (Option 6a), it offers English and special education programs, and its French Immersion students attend Irma Coulson Public School (625 Sauve St), which teaches K–8 in English and French Immersion. The plan’s English map splits the area south of Derry Road between those two schools. Until the new Milton SE #13 Public School opens, tentatively in September 2027, new students moving into Zones 19 to 22 and “Milt13” are assigned to Hawthorne Village PS.
North of Derry, Bruce Trail Public School is at 1199 Costigan Rd. Craig Kielburger Secondary School (1151 Ferguson Dr) is just south of Louis St. Laurent Avenue near Fourth Line. Which HDSB secondary school a particular address feeds into is a question for the board’s own tool.
On the Catholic side, Guardian Angels Catholic Elementary School (650 Bennett Blvd) offers French Immersion, and its 2026–27 boundary covers most of the area south of Derry. The exception is the north-east pocket between Fourth Line and James Snow Parkway, which falls to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Elementary School (1240 Tupper Dr); St. Anthony of Padua also serves the area north of Derry. Guardian Angels belongs to the St. Kateri Tekakwitha family of schools (St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Secondary, 1125 Kennedy Circle East). St. Anthony of Padua belongs to the Bishop P. F. Reding family (Bishop P. F. Reding Catholic Secondary, 1120 Main St E).
Parks, library and shopping
South of Derry, Beaty Neighbourhood Park North and South share the 670 Bennett Blvd address. The north park has ball and soccer fields, a playground, a splash pad and a shelter; the south park has a playground, soccer and walking trails. Beaty Trail Park adds another playground, a shelter and trails. North of Derry, Clarke Neighbourhood Park South (1203 Laurier Ave) has soccer, a playground, a splash pad and bleachers, and Cedar Hedge Park (225 Cedar Hedge Rd) has an off-leash dog park as well as soccer, basketball and a playground.
Bristol District Park (920 Kennedy Circle), just west of Thompson Road at Louis St. Laurent, has a splash pad, accessible play equipment, basketball, soccer and walking trails.
Milton Public Library’s Beaty Branch, nearest Fourth Line and Clark Boulevard, is an 11,300 sq ft LEED Silver building with about 42,000 items, named for the area’s Beaty settlers. The library is renovating it from fall 2026 into early 2027, including a short full closure, so check its site before you go.
For everyday shopping, Hawthorne Village Square plaza is at 10220 Derry Rd (Hawthorne Pharmacy is one of its tenants), and there is a Metro at 1050 Kennedy Circle. Closer to the GO station, the Milton Leisure Centre (1100 Main St E) has a lap pool, a play pool with a water slide, a gym and a weight room, and Lions Sports Park (77 Thompson Rd) has a skate park and a splash pad.
Getting around
Every Milton Transit route starts and ends at Milton GO Station (780 Main St E), the western end of GO’s Milton line, which has free parking. Two routes serve this area. Route 4 Thompson/Clark runs from the station along Thompson Road South, Clark Boulevard, Bennett Boulevard, Yates Drive, Ferguson Drive, Fourth Line and Louis St. Laurent Avenue. Route 3 Trudeau runs along Thompson Road South, McCuaig Drive, Laurier Avenue and Trudeau Drive, then west along Louis St. Laurent.
By car, James Snow Parkway meets Highway 401 at Exit 324, and Derry Road meets Highway 407 at Exit 31 on the Milton–Mississauga boundary. Drive times depend too much on the hour and the street to quote one honestly, so this page doesn’t.
Questions about Hawthorne Village
Is Hawthorne Village an official Milton neighbourhood?
No. It is the name Mattamy Homes used for its east Milton subdivision. The Town’s planning documents don’t define it, and TRREB’s Milton community report has no Hawthorne Village. The school and plaza that carry the name are south of Derry Road between Thompson Road and James Snow Parkway, in the block a local neighbourhood guide calls Beaty, which is one of TRREB’s Milton communities.
Which public school serves Hawthorne Village?
It depends on the address. Under the HDSB boundary plan approved in January 2025, the area south of Derry Road is split between Hawthorne Village Public School and Irma Coulson Public School for English, and Hawthorne Village’s French Immersion students go to Irma Coulson. Check a specific address with the HDSB’s Find Local School tool.
How do I get from Hawthorne Village to Milton GO without a car?
Milton Transit Routes 3 and 4 both run between this area and Milton GO Station, where every Milton Transit route starts and ends.
